Artist Statement:
I was born and raised in San Diego. I love everything about my city! I graduated from The Art Institute of California – San Diego with a Bachelors of Science in Media Arts and Animation. It was an outstanding program that allowed me to explore, adapt, and improve as an artist. I was able to pursue one of my dream jobs in the film industry as a visual effects artist.
When I was in fourth grade, my parents enrolled me in the San Diego School of Creative & Performing Arts. As a student, I explored every type of performing art available. I found my passion for painting with the guidance of amazing teachers there. I was voted best artist of my class every year. That’s when I began to realize how rewarding painting felt for me.
Even today, I’m still learning. Painting has become my addiction. I live for this shit. I look up to so many different people who have kept my creative engine going. My all-time favorite artist is Bob Ross, who made beauty look so easy. H.R. Giger inspired me to dig deeper into my imagination, and Wyland encouraged me to attempt even larger challenges with my art. The root of my inspiration runs even deeper than these artists. I’m influenced by what I enjoyed growing up: horror movies, the Discovery Channel, and others.
Over time, I feel like I’ve become a highly observant individual. I study everything from nature, movement, emotions and the human psyche. I’m intrigued by how things operate in life.
